I know there are others out there who can't afford a $600+ program for a hobby and aren't willing to pirate, so I just wanted to share a few tips for those of you who are using older versions of Photoshop that don't have the ability to run actions or are incompatible with downloadable actions or who are using other programs, such as GIMP or PSP that either can't run actions or run a different format that isn't widely available. It's a bit more time consuming to recolor in GIMP because you have to go through the steps manually, as opposed to just pushing a button, but it's definitely doable.

826 Valencia is both a pirate supply store and a charity dedicated to improving the writing of children ages 6 to 18, located at 826 Valencia St. in San Francisco, California. On their pirate store's website, there is a collection of pirate-themed posters that hang in the actual store. I put five of them on a parchment background and made them into posters for Sims 2. (Yes, there are more on their site, but I chose the most nautical ones.

I used Maxis meshes, so there's no extra download, but most of them do require an expansion pack to work. EP's required are University and Nightlife. ("Salty Deck" is basegame. "Uses for Lard" is Uni. All others are Nightlife. Posters are "Surfing the Universe," "Engineered Angst," and "Grilled Cheese.")

Gunnerkirgg Court is a webcomic about nature, magic, and technology and two young girls. An interesting feature of the webcomic is its alchemical treatises, of which there have been four so far. The artist bases these digital paintings on medieval alchemical treatises, which were paintings that hid chemical and alchemical formulas in symbols placed throughout the art, readable only by a well-trained eye.

The four alchemical treatises are numbered in the order they showed up in the comic, since they aren't otherwise named in the comic. So here's the guide for which is which:

Treatise 1: Yellow background, girls making hand symbols
Treatise 2: Night Scene, girls with hammer and torch
Treatise 3: Girls walking into building, one looks back
Treatise 4: Ghost with Sword, girls face opposite

Another image from the comic "Black Dogs of the British Isles" is also included in the .rar file.

Yeah, I know...another small webcomic poster set from me. Wondermark is a webcomic made entirely from 19th century woodcuts that would appeal to fans of sarcasm, history nerds, and steampunk enthusiasts, theoretically. These posters are actually available to buy as real posters through the webcomic artist's shop, and I like a little real-ness in my game, so I turned them into Sim posters. There are four total, two squares and two rectangles. The one called "Mysterious Homicides" isn't shown in the preview, because if I showed you, it wouldn't be much of a mystery, now would it?

Meshes by Maxis. "Mysterious Homicides" and "Beardarchy" both require Nightlife.

7 tunics in 11 colors.

Available in These Shapes: CM-AM Maxis, TM & AM LBB, and TF & AF Androgyny.
Available in These Colors: Aelia's Eco Naturals Vanilla and Mocha; Aelia's Jewel Saffron and Nightshade; CuriousB's Maple, Meadow, Ocean, and Oyster; iCad's Acorn; and Pooklet's Mailbomb and Pipebomb.

Thank these awesome people, not me. Seriously, all I did was change some colors.
For the best heraldry packs ever: Almighty Hat.
Meshes: Tiggerypum and Cynnix.
Bodyshapes: Aquilegia and Synapticsim.
Colors: Aelia, CuriousB, Pooklet, and iCad.

The pix aren't that big, but I used Pooklet's skin and face shapes, Hat's hair, CuriousB's eyes and beards, Trapping's brows, and VictoriasFortune's mascara.

Personally, I prefer blank tunics, but if you want to put devices on these and post them, go right ahead.
I only made tunics for the bodyshapes that I use, but if you want to copypaste these colors onto other bodyshapes, that's fine too. Feel free to post your edits.

All tunics appear in everyday, formal, athletic, and outerwear except the child tunic, which appers in everyday, formal, and outerwear. Compressorized. All meshes are included. Swatch is linked for size reasons. (width) View it here.

The .rar contains pictures of each woman, both in poster form and in the pictures I used to make the posters.

Historical Context:
As seen on Tony Robinson's Worst Jobs in History (Season 2, The Urban Age...go about a minute into this clip for his explanation.)

In the early Industrial Age (Georgian and early Victorian), people living in cities stopped working according to the sun and began working shifts in factories. This called for new forms of entertainment and, thus, new forms of employment. One such form of entertainment was watching fights. This ranged from dogs fighting rats, to cockfights, to boxing. This mostly happened on the outskirts of the cities, and one popular group to watch fight was women, who often fought dirtier than the men. They fought in many ways, ranging from bare-knuckle fistfights to fighting with battle axes, and they aimed to cause wounds, not to kill, though there were occasional deaths. Most of the women who did this work were very poor women who worked as market vendors or factory workers during the day and fought for extra money. Fighters were paid in the form of tips thrown into the ring. There were also grudge fights between women that were used to settle scores.

I stupidly made nearly everything on the Grilled Cheese mesh, which is unnecessarily huge and really not very practical. So I finally remade them. A few are still available on Grilled Cheese, but most are on Surfing the Universe, which is a much, much better size. Yes, I'm aware that they're available in Sims 3, but that doesn't do me much good in Sims 2...

Pack Includes:
- 4 Tavern Signs in two sizes (2 Fable 2, 2 Fable 3 on Grilled Cheese and Surfing the Universe)
- A nearly complete set of the collectible paintings (I left Saker and Reaver out.) on the Lady in Red mesh.
- Several recruitment posters, advertisements, and political posters. (Including the Albion Ale girl on Engineered Angst.)
(I'm not going to list them in full, due to length. Generally, I included the threatening ones and the military ones. I couldn't find the coronation ones, and I left out some of the sillier advertisements, such as Trepanning, Peasant Prodder, Chocorat and Steam Hat.)

All mesh credits go to Maxis. All art credits go to Lionhead Studios. All I did was copypaste and run things through SimPE. Some posters require University or Night Life to work. Sorted by mesh.

Some Notes... )

You get Ben Finn as your preview images because he's my favorite. This lady prefers smartarse blonds in uniform. Sorry Reaver and Logan fans...

Have some patriotic bikini shirts for your adult female sims. These were based off of Maxis Bikini Tops as Separates by Rise Sims. They don't require a mesh. There are 16 in total. They were originally made for the 2012 Olympics.

Shown (L-R): Ukraine, Scotland, Canada, USA, Australia, UK, Sweden, Ireland
Not Shown: France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia

Q: Will you make a teen version?
A: No. Feel free to do it yourself, though.

Q: Will you make X country?
A: Probably not.

Q: Why was Y country chosen, but not Z country?
A: There are a multitude of reasons why certain countries were and weren't chosen. I generally went for things that made good bikinis that also wouldn't be too controversial. Some of the reasons certain countries weren't chosen include religious sensitivities (some Muslim countries, Israel), political sensitivities (Israel and Palestine, Northern Ireland), looking too fetishistic on a pair of breasts (Switzerland, Japan, England), just not making a very good bikini or lining up well (Wales, Mexico, Greece), or just not being able to find a usable flag with a matching texture.

Q: Why does Scotland get one if it's part of the UK?
A: First of all, there's a separation vote coming up... Second, it just made a nice bikini, which was the primary reason for choosing countries.

Well...RenK had a lovely set of doll eyes on GoS. The download link broke. In my game, I use CuriousB's "Nothing Like the Sun" eyes, which happen to have a lovely "blind eye white" to work from. This would also make the doll eyes match the regular eyes. I liked that idea, so I played mix-and-match using the colors from RenK's preview pic. Although many of the colors share names with CuriousB's color actions, they do not actually use said actions. There are ten eyes in total, as you can see from the swatch.

Credit, clearly, goes to CuriousB for everything but the colors and RenK for the colors. All I did was play mix and match.
The clothes in the pic are by SpoiledKitten. The eyelashes in the pic are by victoriasfortune. The skintones are Pooklet's, and the hair and lipstick are mine.

This is a large set of separates. Have a list.
TF & AF Tutus - Mesh by Aquilegia included. Patterns include stripes, bats, sailor, pirate, spiders (not pictured), and polka dots (not pictured), 40 colors, 2 meshes.
AF Bikini Tops - Based off of work by Rise Sims at MTS. No Mesh Required.
CF-AF Shirts - Four shirts on Maxis meshes. (green spooky spider long-sleeved, pink graveyard tours short-sleeved, black sailor shirts short-sleeved, black skeleton tank) These shouldn't require anything aside from the basegame to work. Let me know if there's an issue with the child. I used an untuckable for her, but it shouldn't be a problem. CF not pictured.

Q: Will you make the bikini tops for teen?
A: No. If you want to, they should translate directly onto Rise Sims' teen version. Feel free to use my recolors with credit, but please keep them off of paysites.

Q: Are the shirts untuckable? Will you make them untuckable?
A: No and no. Three of the four shirts are based off of shirts I actually own in real life. In short, I made them for myself. I shared them because I felt they might see some use. If you want to make them untuckable, feel free, but please credit me and keep them off of paysites.

Q: What do the shirts say?
A: "Spooky" and "Professor Specter's Graveyard Tours"

Q: Where did you get the resources?
A: Brushes from deviantART, a Sims sailor suit, some clipart, and some fabric textures

Q: What's up with the black tights?
A: Those are Aquilegia's textures, not mine.

Download Custom Skintones

THE FOLLOWING FILES ARE DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE.
Download Frozen DR Download Drowned DR

It's pretty much what it says on the tin: two pretty pale blue zombie default replacements, made from Pooklet's Kids in Technicolor. Which one you want depends ultimately on your monitor settings, which lighting mod you have (if any), and personal preference.* You can have both or either as a custom skin, but you can only have one default replacement. I'm not responsible if you break your game putting both DRs in your downloads folder. Which one is which? Frozen is the lighter of the two. Drowned is the darker of the two.

Credits - Pooklet for the skintone and the colors I mixed to achieve the hue.
Picture Credits: Eyes by CuriousB, Hair by Meshy and Almighty Hat, Clothes by All About Style and Club Crymsyn, makeup by me and victoriasfortune, brows by Trapping.

*Disclaimer: The pic was taken with Almighty Hat's A World Lit by Fire, which tends to make skintones look a little darker. Frozen might be really, really, really pale for you. Pic taken of custom skins in CAS, but I did test the defaults.

-ZoeJ's Purple and Red Princes from The Dark Project*

OK...so Sunathron @ GoS did some really great World of Warcraft wall, floor, and terrain texture conversions, but they're really Alliance-centric. (He did Human stuff and the Worgen starting area, and two neutral areas: Mists of Pandaria and Dalaran. He said he had Blood Elf textures, but, as of this post, hasn't finished or posted them...which means he hasn't posted his one Horde set...)

Well...my husband and I play mostly Horde, and we (and most of the rest of our guild...) make our home in Undercity, even though he (and most of the rest of the guild) favors Blood Elves, and I favor Goblins. So I really wanted some Undead walls and floors for Sims, even though those weren't on Sunathron's list.

What I ended up with is a combination of Foresaken textures and textures from the dungeons Shadowfang Keep, Stratholme, and Scholomance and the raids Karazhan and Icecrown Citadel. (The majority are Foresaken or Karazhan.) Many of the walls are two-tile walls, with a clearly marked "left" and "right." Some of these are generic enough to pass as regular derelict woods or castle stone, while others are very much fantasy textures. Some are more medieval, others are more goth.

This isn't a full swatch, but it should give you an idea of what's in the pack. It's pretty big, so it's linked. Partial Swatch

There are 83 wall files and 53 floor files, so it's a pretty big pack. (Yeah...it might take a little while to download...sorry 'bout that...)

In case you're interested...I do have some Night Elf (mostly wood textures and towers, not the stone ruins) stuff, some Goblin stuff (Penguin and Pineapple wallpapers, stucco, brick, and tile), the Wildhammer Dwarf textures from Twilight Highlands, some tile and undersea terrain paints from Vashj'ir, and some textures from Blackrock Spire, Uldaman, and Sunken Temple. They're smaller sets, but...if anyone actually wants them, let me know...

The lovely G-Knee took on a huge request of mine to combine the basegame kilt mesh and the Glamour Life Stuff royal mesh into a kilted dress uniform. She went way beyond my initial request and made it all alpha-editable so you can have options. I decided I just had to make some copypaste recolors when she finished, and here are the results. The kilts are Maxis and penguiny7@MTS, and the jackets are Maxis and cocomama@mts. All I really did was color match, copypaste, fuss with little bits here and there, and switch around the alphas.

Done in the following tartans: Maxis Red, Maxis Green, Blackwatch, MacLachlan, Murray, Roberts, Stuart. The preview is Blackwatch. Mesh is included.

Why those tartans? Of the ones penguinny did, they matched jackets well and didn't have weird pattern clipping on the sides.
Except MacLachlan...that one was picked specifically because I went to school with someone with that name, and he was a nice person.

So you know which is which inside the file...

OK, so this style probably isn't all that historically accurate, but it's cute, and it does resemble styles used in Dragon Age: Origins and by some races in World of Warcraft (albeit without little metal bits). It's not 100% accurate to Leliana's hair either. I intended to just do her little side braid, but the way this hair handles its texture, it repeats all over the place, so I added a couple more and ended up with this. I suppose the TS3 bob conversion would've been more accurate to Leliana, but I kind of fell in love with this one, so you get this one instead.

It comes in all 16 of Pooklet's naturals, binned and familied. Elders go gray. Time Bomb custom is included. The main texture is Pooklet's V1, with a few of Trapping's twists on top. Mesh by Newsea is included.

Chazzhay did a 3t2 conversion of the "Big Glam" hair from Showtime, but it's Maxis-Match, and the only other recolor I know of is in Simgaroop's textures.

Now...the thing about this mesh is that, despite the fact that it's from September 2012 and the fact that it's a 3t2 conversion, the texture is only 512x512, not 1024x1024, so it looks a bit crunchy with my usual texture (Pooklet v1) on it. Besides...as straight hair, it looks like 1980s hairspray abuse, but with a Nouk texture, it looks like reasonably natural poof.

Currently, it's only available T-E. I'd be thrilled if someone made a toddler and child mesh conversion, since it's just one of those shapes that would look great on the little ones.

It's Nouklet, all naturals, elders go gray, Time Bomb custom, binned, familied, compressorized, washed, rinsed, repeated.

For now, crappy Bodyshop preview with crappy Maxis default eyes and faces. I'll put up a proper preview next time I start up the full game. I wanted to get it posted quickly.

Just a partial recolor of Serena Moonstone's Evil Warlock robes. The pattern is a purple cloth with owls on it. It's originally from Little Cherubs Heirloom, but I found it going through Pooklet's downloads archive. Since the texture is decidedly infantile, I have no intention of making C-E versions of this. It's for toddler male only, and it's categorized as everyday, sleep, and outerwear. Because...you know...everyone totally needs more silly fantasy baby clothes...

These require Aligeth's Lord of the Teething Rings mesh, which is included, even though I'm sure you already have it...
